TRIVIA

Trivia

Sir George Martin's inspiration for the staccato string arrangement in Eleanor Rigby was from the soundtrack of Hitchcock's "Psycho".

The 2015 repeat on BBC Four removed all references to Rolf Harris in an act of revisionism due to his conviction for child sex offences. Especially embarrassing in retrospect was Martin calling Harris "an extraordinary man" and saying he "loved him from the very moment he saw him".

Prologue: "Sir George Martin is Britain's most famous music producer. Amongst others he's produced Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, The Luton Girls Choir, Peter Sellers, Cilla Black, Spike Milligan, Shirley Bassey, Jimmy Webb, Jeff Beck...and The Beatles. Back in 1950, George went for a job interview at the recording giant EMI. Little did he know he was about to meet the love of his life."
