Writer/director Mark Christopher came up with the character Cara-Ethyl while drunk on tequila.
Although the film takes place on Cara-Ethyl's 18th birthday, actor Kylie Sparks was actually 16-years-old.

The naked roommate was played by the prop master Cosmo Inserra, who was cast at the last minute. Since Kylie Sparks (Cara-Ethyl) was underage at the time of filming, he wasn't legally allowed to be naked in front of her. Her mother actually stepped in as her body double for the shot of her back.
