In the scene where Dean McCrory arrives home drunk, the song he is singing is the tradition Irish folk song 'The Wild Rover', actor Cris Cochrane deliberately sang the lyrics wrong to reflect the limited understanding the character McCrory had of his own cultural background, and the drug and alcohol affected state of his mind. Cochrane choose the song for the scene to pay homage to one of his favourite films, Ken Loach's 'The Wind That Shakes The Barley', where it is sang by an IRA volunteer pretending to be drunk when caught attempting to explode a bomb.
