At the end of the party brawl between Nikki (Debbie Gibson) and Terry (Tiffany), Nikki says, "I think... we're alone now." followed by Terry saying "There doesn't seem to be anyone around." These lines are in reference to a song covered by Tiffany in her 1987 self-titled debut album. "I Think We're Alone Now" reached #1 on the Billboard charts in the U.S.
During an argument before the party brawl, Terry (Tiffany) tells Nikki (Debbie Gibson), "Only in your dreams!". This is a reference to Gibson's 1986 hit single "Only in My Dreams".
In the scene where Nikki and a group of animal rights protesters picket in front of the park ranger station, one of the protesters can be seen wearing an Electric Youth-era Debbie Gibson t-shirt and another wearing a Tiffany "Hold an Old Friends Hand" Album Tour Shirt.

The film was shot at Griffith Park and the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Los Angeles, California, which acted as a stand-in setting for Florida.

Nikki: 'That' is footage of you planting steroids in those chickens and feeding them to those gators. [Silence] Terry: That proves nothing. Nikki: Oh bitch, please. You're going down. Terry: Give it to me! [attempts to grab the CD from Nikki] Nikki: It wasn't enough that you had to kill your own fiance, huh? You had to kill other innocents as well! [Terry slaps Nikki] Nikki: You are gonna get it, you gator-baiting bitch! Terry: Only in your dreams! [Nikki slaps Terry. They begin a staredown, which leads to a catfight all over the party]"
