1993 AFI Best Actor returns to Port Adelaide! Nicholas Hope starred in Bad Boy Bubby in 1993, and went on to win an AFI for best actor, was on location in Port Adelaide for that film, and returns to Port Adelaide in filming Maurice's Symphony. The basement of the Railway Hotel in Port Adelaide which was Maurice's Squat was next door to basements used as locations in Bad Boy Bubby.

Adelaide Fringe Festival Sculpture icon featured in Maurice's Symphony. David Archer, a local Adelaide artist, is world renowned for his penny arcade style automata (kinetic sculptures) provided artworks adorning the carnival street scene including Brutus the Pig a regular centerpiece in the Adelaide Fringe festival's, Garden of Unearthly Delights. He built the counting device used in the Office scene.

Its where dreams are made: Historic Townsend House. Townsend House originally founded in 1874 as the South Australian Institution for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb (Incorporated), later changed to Townsend House, the charity opened its doors to five blind and two deaf students, beginning a commitment that continues today. The library of this building was the location for the 'Dream sequence' of Maurice and his love interest Catherine Voges.

Mice Bred and saved from Snakes to star in Maurice's Symphony. Four brown mice were bred and reared 6 months out before production commenced. Brown mice are difficult to find and sourced from mice used to feed snakes at the Adelaide Zoological Gardens.

Maurice's Symphony; a slice of history in the making. The Australian Maritime and National Railway museums provided access to props used in this film. Some of the ledger books used in the Office scene were originals now over 150 years old. There were antique medic instruments sourced from the Adelaide Medical museum.
