Wes Ball began work of this film after the cancellation of his Fantasy Adaptation of the Comic Series "the Mouse Guard" following the Disney-Fox acquisition. Director Matt Reeves (who directed the Pervious Apes Films) was set to Produce, Ball would reunite with his Maze Runner Co-Star Thomas Brodie-Sangster & featured Planet of the Apes' Caesar, Andy Serkis.
Director Wes Ball has a style showcasing Dystopian Cities with Greenry overtaking the Building or Walls. Similar Esthetics can be seen in his Pervious films, such as the Maze Runner & his Short Film Ruin.
