If you are looking for something memorable to take back home after watching a movie, then this movie is for you.

    Why should you watch Kathir?
While there are filmmakers who are churning out movies without any well-established storyline by using established actors, wasting not just talent but the time of the audience too, there are still some who are coming out with movies that leave you awestruck. Kathir is one such movie that allows you to take back something. The movie offers you two characters who are influenced by one another, and you get to witness their course of life. It might not be a brilliant film, but there is something that would glue your eyes to the screen.

The story revolves around two individuals — one a young man who has been facing a lot of failures in life but is aspiring to become something and an old woman who comes with an inspiring past. The story revolves around their beautiful bond when the man gets to know about her story. While the plot you might have seen in other movies, the way Dhinesh Palanivel weaves the story, the protagonist is not the only one who journeys through the movie, we become a part of this journey too.

The storyline begins with Kathir (Venkatesh Annadurai) being frustrated because he could not secure a job even after being an engineering graduate. After a heated argument with his father, he leaves his hometown and goes to Chennai in search of a job. However, due to his weak hold over English, it gets difficult for him to grab a job in the IT sector. He then gets acquainted with his house owner Savithri (Rajini Chandy), an inspiring character. Although Kathir’s irresponsible behavior frustrates her, a beautiful bond forms between them. He tells her about his college love story and how life has always been unfair to him.

His life takes a new turn after hearing about Savithri’s inspiring story and the sudden demise of his close friend Farooq. He then decides to stay in Coimbatore, where he decides to do something for himself and others. The way Dhinesh Palanivel narrates the story, we get to experience the simple human emotions without trying too hard. The movie is a well-intended one with a well-built climax. Actors have made sure that the characters are portrayed brilliantly in every instance of the film. Bhavya Trikha plays the role of Venkatesh’s girlfriend, and she has also done a decent job of portraying the character. The background music had elevated a few of the scenes and was composed by Prashant Pillai. If you are looking for a good time and a good watch, then Kathir should be on your list of must-watch movies.
