HERE'S HOLLYWOOD 1962-08-07, WNBC, 17 min. Steve McQueen, Jack Linkletter NBC TV interview segments used from this broadcast through out this Steve McQueen biographical documentary. Jack Linkletter interviews Steve McQueen on the set of "The Great Escape" in Munich, Germany. NOTE: A POSITIVE 35MM positve B&W Kinescope print does exist at UCLA FILM & TV ARCHIVE. However, the Negative SOUND TRACK of this broadcast has been lost, allowing for only screening of this footage silently. The soundtrack recorded off the air direct line in 1962 at the time of the original broadcast by Phil Gries (Archival Television Audio Inc.) on 1/4" reel to reel audio tape is the only extant audio known to exist. Thus, separate picture from UCLA and sound from Archival Television Audio have been combined, synced and used for seamless playback in this documentary.This audio has been transacted to productions companies over the years for inclusion in three different television documentaries about Steve McQueen including "I Am Steve McQueen."
