Danny Arlington and Donna Arlington are real life son and mother.

"Darcy," formerly named "This is Nowhere," was Actress Gus Birney's first feature film. She had acted in one short film prior to her audition for Casting Director Caroline Sinclair, and directors Heidi Philipsen and Jon Russell Cring. Still attending performing arts high school, she had to get special permission to take time of from school to shoot the film over two weeks in the Catskill Region of upstate New York.

There were couples galore working in tandem as teams on 'Darcy.' Co-writers (and co-director and DP) Jon Russell & Tracy Nicole Cring are a married couple. Producer/Co-Director and Actress (Toni) Heidi Philipsen and Executive Producer Niko Meissner are a married couple (their kids, Max Meisner & Sophie Meisner both worked on the film). And Producer Designer Sally Del Castillo and Art Director Nando Del Castillo are a couple (Nando's daughter Bianca Del Castillo worked in the wardrobe team).

Actor David Thornton was the first actor to be cast. Known for his performances in The Notebook, John Q and many other films, he was supportive and once he came on board, many other actors followed his lead.

Many of the articles out there say that Gus Birney got her first break in The Mist. The truth is that "Darcy, This is Nowhere" was her first feature film break ever. The film was cast in March of 2015 while Gus was 15 and still in high school. She had had only one short film in her credit upon that casting. Casting Director Caroline Sinclair ran the casting for Producer/Director Heidi Philipsen and Writer/Director Jon Russell Cring, Gus Birney came in to audition and was brilliant for the part. There was only one "problem" -at 15 years of age, she was very young and the production would be held to children's SAG-AFTRA shooting rules. Producer Heidi Philipsen took a big risk in casting her (micro budget movie with only 15 days schedule to shoot the feature), but Casting Director assured her that she would be making the right decision with Gus. Heidi had no idea that Gus came from an acting family at the time. Gus came on set and stole everyone's heart the very first day. She was the ultimate professional and blew away everyone with her performances. The rest is history.
