Story

The movie was cut for its American theatrical release in the USA where approximately the last ten minutes and the ending were removed.

Hazel O'Connor wore some of her own clothes to play her character of Kate. O'Connor also sang all her songs for the film and wrote thirteen tracks for the movie. The film was O'Connor's first major movie acting role and was her breakthrough film performance.

'Time Out' called this movie "The Glenn Miller Story (1954) meets Rude Boy (1980)".

Publicity for this picture described lead actress Hazel O'Connor as the "Princess of Punk" and the picture as "Britain's answer to The Rose (1979)".

When Hazel O'Connor auditioned for the movie, she was only looking for a small part in it, and unexpectedly landed the lead role.
