The photo of Miller as a child with his father is actually a photo of director Sheikh Shahnawaz as a child with his father. Sheikh made the film in honor of his father's memory who died 5 days after Sheikh had finished writing the screenplay. There is an in memoriam at the end of the film dedicated to Sheikh's father.
Gurj Gill who played Miller and Jason Adam who played Cooks in the film, had never acted in a feature length film before this.
Sheikh Shahnawaz started shooting late 2019 in his hometown over weekends with the actors, many of whom were friends of the director. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, production had not wrapped till late 2020 where Sheikh was able to shoot the last 25% of the film once lockdown measures had eased. Sheikh spent the next year completing post-production and working remotely with composer Savfk to create the score for the film.
The entire film was shot on a Sony a7 III camera with a Sony Zeiss 24-70mm lens, a consumer camera setup that costs a mere $2000. Sheikh Shahnawaz had already owned this gear prior to filming from his day job making corporate videos.
Bluff is the feature directorial debut by Sheikh Shahnawaz who shot the film completely guerilla as a one man crew for a budget of $2000.
