TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

When the daughter of Italian director Pietro Francisci saw this film, she suggested bodybuilder-turned-actor 'Steve Reeves' for the title role in her father's upcoming production Hercules (1958) (US title: "Hercules").

This project was initiated by Esther Williams as a vehicle for herself, combining swimming sequences with the satiric yet earnest pro-health-related aspects of the plot. However, while Williams was at work on Easy to Love (1953), producer Joe Pasternak usurped the project, which he refashioned as a vehicle for Jane Powell. In later years, Williams revealed that this was one of the reasons she decided to leave MGM.

Jane Powell, Virginia Gibson, and Nancy Kilgas were three of the brides in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers."

The number "Faster Than Sound" by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane was recorded by Vic Damone but not used in the final print. The song was ultimately recycled for the Broadway musical High Spirits (1964), where it was introduced by Tammy Grimes.

The English-born Edmund Purdom plays a character from Massachusetts.

Popular Dialogues

"Adam Calhorn Shaw: You earned $100,000 singing? Johnny Nyle: Well, you probably wouldn't call it singing. I'm a crooner. Adam Calhorn Shaw: There ought to be a law against that."

"Adam Calhorn Shaw: What's their number? Johnny Nyle: Oh, they don't believe in telephones. Adam Calhorn Shaw: Telephones are not a matter of faith!"
