IMDbIn interview with the New York times Nicolas Cage described the movie as disappointing and said that the director Larry Charles didn't get a final cut
According to Nicolas Cage, director Larry Charles didn't get a final cut. Co-star Paul Scheer revealed in his 'Unspooled' podcast that the film was distributed by the company of Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein, who were notorious for re-editing movies against their directors' wishes. To circumvent this problem, Charles had frequent discussions with his editor about what shots he needed. He purposefully limited the amount of footage shot and did a lot of in-camera editing as to give the Weinsteins less opportunity to interfere with the final product. This didn't stop them from re-cutting the film and giving it a limited release, however.
According to Nicolas Cage the movie could have been far better if the director Larry Charles got a final cut
'Army Of One' was the recruiting slogan that was used by the United States Army between 2001 and 2006.
The footage of then-president Obama announcing the death of Bin Laden is real, although not played sequentially.
"God: What is that Nicholas Cage doing in my movie?"
"God: Shit happens, Gary. Crying about it don't do any good. But this, Gary... this is your sword that I give onto thee, and as long as you behold it, you need never fear any man. You are special. I choose you to wield this sword, and as long as it's in your possession, you need never know fear again!"
