Three island boys, in their final summer of adolescence, look beyond an ocean that has incarcerated them since birth to plot their hopes and dreams. Dark secrets, fearful parents, and wealthy seasonal influences all combine into a recipe of tragedy and triumph. Anatomy of the Tide is exactly that -- a boy's lesson to his friends on how to jump the island's most dangerous cliff by understanding the sea which breathes beneath her rocks and a moon that controls the water. Directed by Joel Strunk. Starring Gabriel Basso, Nathan Keyes, Spencer Locke in prominent roles.

The hornet's nest in the bread truck scene at the beginning of the film is an actual hornet's nest that the director had kept for over two years specifically for this use.
Writer/director Joel Strunk's script for this film placed in the top 30 of the Nicholl Fellowship in both 2001 and 2010. One of the few scripts to place twice in this scriptwriting competition.
Though the film takes place on the fictional island of Cliff Haven off the coast of Maine, most of the locations were actually filmed on the mainland in mid coast Maine, including Owls Head, Rockland and South Thomaston. To get the island "look" for the film, many exteriors were shot on the island of Vinalhaven, Maine.
The film was first presented in 2013 to an audience invited by the film's production, but its first commercial release took place in 2016 at the Woods Hole Film Festival.
